Sam wanted the export finished before lunch. It was a dull function, the kind that used to mean an hour in the documentation and an error message that hid the real mistake. Sam gave the rough idea to an AI assistant and had a function back before the kettle boiled.
It looked fluent. It also opened a file Sam had not asked it to open.
"That is the change," said Noor, at the next desk. "An assistant can explain a function you have never seen, draft a test, suggest a query, or hand you a first version. It cannot want the right thing. Code that reads well can still be wrong."
Sam deleted the extra lines and wrote a test they could check by hand. The test failed, then passed. The pass was the only line Sam trusted.
