The Flowers on the Balcony

Priya wants her aunt to see the basil before the flowers drop. The plant sits in a pot on the balcony, and this morning the first small white flowers opened. Her aunt taught her how to water it. A message that says "it has flowers" is not enough. Priya wants a photo where the flowers are clear.

The sun is high, and the light is hard. Bright patches fall on the leaves, and the white flowers are hard to see. She turns the pot so a thin shadow from the railing covers it. The light is still daylight, but it is softer. Now she can see the shape of each flower.

She opens the camera on her phone. The first photo puts the pot in the center of the screen, and it looks like a shop label.
