The Router in the Hall

Dan wants one form to leave his laptop before the afternoon is over. The form is a scan, already saved. He only needs the internet. In the bedroom the Wi-Fi icon shows a problem, and the page will not send.

The router sits on a shelf in the hall. A thick wall stands between that shelf and Dan's desk. On the laptop he can see a network name that ends in 2.4 GHz. A second name, ending in 5 GHz, does not appear in the bedroom. On this router the 5 GHz band is faster, and its range is shorter. The 2.4 GHz band is slower, and it reaches the desk. He joins that name. The laptop already remembers the password, so he does not type it. The icon changes. The page still will not send.

He carries the laptop into the hall and sits on the floor near the shelf.
