The Future of Remote Work Technology

Nina wanted the team to see her page before the call ran out of time. The link in her email opened Zoom. Her colleagues were in other cities, and the only shared room they had was the one on the screen. If that page stayed blank, they would leave with a guess instead of an answer.

She sat at the kitchen table and plugged the laptop in. The camera showed a cupboard, so she turned the chair until the wall behind her was plain. When the call began, faces appeared in small boxes. One man was sitting in a coffee shop. Cups knocked, a door opened, and Nina missed the question with her name in it. She lifted a hand and asked him to mute. He found the button. The noise dropped, and she could hear the group again.
