The Mark on the Platform

Nina wanted her father to see a short video before her train left. Under the station roof a musician was playing, and she had filmed one song. Her father lived in a small town. His phone was old. It still used 4G, and it could play a video. Her phone was newer. It could use 5G, the mobile network that came after 4G. That morning he had asked what the station sounded like. She wanted him to hear the song, not only to read that someone was playing. A video is heavier than a text, so she hoped the 5G mark would send the file in time.

Under the roof the phone showed 5G. She started the send. A bar moved across the screen. People stood close around her, all on their phones, and the file still moved. She had a little time.
