A Morning on the Tube
On my first morning in London, I want to visit a friend. My friend lives near a busy station, so I decide to take the London Underground.
The London Underground is also called the Tube. At the hotel, I look at a Tube map and choose a line. I put my ticket in my bag, but I keep the map in my hand.
At the station entrance, I follow other passengers. A kind worker says, "Check the name of the line before you get on." I check the platform and wait for my train.
An information card at the station tells a short story. The first underground railway opened between Paddington and Farringdon in 1863. I read the date twice because it feels very old to me.
The train arrives, and the doors open. I get on with a small group of passengers.
