Meeting New People at Work

John wants to meet one person before he sits down. It is his first day at the company. He is a new employee, and he starts his work today. He is happy to be here, but he is also a little nervous. He works in the sales department. His office is on the second floor. He knows the floor. He does not know the people.

He steps into the big room and stops. The office is big and clean. There are many desks. Some people talk on the phone. Some people type. John holds his bag and looks around. He wants a colleague to show him his desk. He does not want to choose the wrong chair.

A woman closes a notebook and looks up. "Good morning," she says. "How are you today?"

"I am fine, thank you," John says.
