The Short Message

Marco sat at his desk with his laptop open. The fair was yesterday. A paper cup from the hall was still in the bin, and a stack of cards lay by the keyboard. He wanted Lila to answer him. She worked at the label company. The printer in his shop kept eating the sticky labels, and her team made that machine.

LinkedIn was open on the screen. He had found her name there after the fair. The photo matched the badge she wore in the hall. He started to type.

"Hello, I am Marco from a print shop. I want to tell you about our work, and I hope we can work together. Please look at my page and write back soon."

He stopped. The words sounded like a poster on a wall. At the fair he had not talked like that.
