The Red Boat

Daniel is still outside, and the museum will close soon. His daughter Ivy copied a picture at school. The copy is on the kitchen table at home. In her picture the boat is red, but the photo in her school book is small and dark. At breakfast she asked him, "Is the real boat red?" He said he would go and see. He does not want to go home with a guess.

A woman at the door is ready to stop new visitors. Most people are already coming out. Daniel keeps his hands in his pockets. He did not come to see every room. He came for one picture.

He steps up to her. "Can I come in for one picture?" he asks. "My daughter copied it. She wants to know if the boat is red."

The woman looks into the hall.
