The Empty Seat
Priya is in the dark cinema with an empty seat beside her, and the advertisements are already playing. Her grandfather asked her to come with him. He has not been to a cinema for a long time, and he wanted someone next to him if the story moved too fast. She has his ticket in her hand. He is not in the building yet.
A neighbor was going to drive him, but the car would not start. Priya knows this because her grandfather sent a short message: "On our way. Please hold the seat." She looks at the empty place, then at the doors at the back. If he misses the beginning, the rest of the film will be hard for him. She did not buy these tickets so he could walk in halfway through.
She gets up and walks to the usher by the doors.
