World Mental Health Day: A Feeling Wheel
Our school library has a poster for World Mental Health Day. The day is on 10 October. The poster has a big circle. It is an emotion wheel.
In our library, the emotion wheel has words for feelings. Four big words are happy, sad, angry, and afraid. Around happy, there are excited, calm, and proud. Around sad, there are lonely, tired, and disappointed.
On Monday, Mia looks at the wheel. "I am not sad," she says. "I am disappointed. My team does not win the game." Ben says, "I feel worried. I have a test today."
Their teacher says, "Thank you for telling me." At lunch, Mia and Ben study together. On Tuesday, Mia says, "I am proud. I finish my work." Ben feels calm after his test.
The poster gives Mia and Ben more words than happy or sad.
