A Short Warm-up Before a Walk

Mia is ready for a long walk, but she starts slowly. First, she marches in place. Her arms move with her legs. Then she takes small steps forward and back.

Next, Mia lifts one knee and then the other. She keeps her back straight. After that, she rolls her shoulders forward and back. She moves slowly and breathes normally. Her warm-up is light, not hard.

Now Mia feels ready to begin her walk. A warm-up can prepare the body for more active exercise. These are general exercises. They do not treat a health problem. If a movement causes pain or you feel unwell, stop. How do you warm up before exercise? Which gentle movement do you like?
