A Picnic by the Serpentine
Maya and Luis live in London. On Saturday, they want to have a picnic in Hyde Park. The Serpentine is a lake in the park. There are paths beside the water. Maya wants a place near the lake. Luis wants a place under a tree. They decide to find both.
Before they leave home, they make a small plan. Maya packs tomato sandwiches, two apples, and a bag of crisps. Luis brings water, a blanket, and a small bag for waste. "Don't forget the cups," says Maya. "I have them," says Luis.
They take the Underground to the park. At the gate, the city is noisy, but the grass is quiet. They walk slowly and look at the trees. Near the lake, they find shade under a large tree. The blanket is dry, so they sit down.
