Etiquette Secrets: How Not to Be a 'Bad Tourist'
Sam wanted one photo from inside the church. It was a hot afternoon in a small city in Italy, and he was wearing a shirt with no sleeves. His aunt stopped him at the door. A sign asked visitors to cover their shoulders and their knees. People were going in to pray. The room was quiet, and it was not a hall for a loud visit.
Sam had wanted the picture more than he had thought about the sign. He looked at his bare arms. His aunt took a light scarf from her bag and laid it over his shoulders. He felt a little foolish. It was enough for the door. They went in. She touched his elbow so he would walk slowly and keep his voice low. He turned his phone to silent before he even framed a shot.
