Fictional traveler Ana waits at Puerta del Sol on 17 October 1919. The text states that Alfonso XIII opened the first Madrid Metro line from Sol to Cuatro Caminos and gives documented details about its stations, speed, journey time, opening-day riders and fare.
Ese día, el rey Alfonso XIII inauguró la primera línea del Metro de Madrid. La línea iba de Puerta del Sol a Cuatro Caminos. El primer tramo tenía ocho estaciones y recorría unos cuatro kilómetros.
Mientras Ana esperaba en Sol, los trenes circulaban a una velocidad de 25 kilómetros por hora. El viaje completo duraba diez minutos. Ana subió a un tren y buscó una ventana.
El rey Alfonso XIII realizó ese primer viaje del Metro en España. Cuando el tren llegó a Cuatro Caminos, Ana bajó y escribió una nota: «El Metro era nuevo y rápido».
El 31 de octubre, en la primera jornada abierta al público, 56.200 personas usaron el Metro y pagaron 15 céntimos por su billete. Ana guardó su billete en un libro.
