Sara nació en España en 1989. Es biotecnóloga, investigadora del Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Oncológicas y miembro de la reserva de astronautas de la Agencia Espacial Europea. Ha unido la investigación del cáncer con la formación espacial.
Formación
En 2012, se licenció en Biotecnología en la Universidad de León. En 2013, terminó un máster en Investigación Biomédica y Biológica. Cinco años después, se doctoró en Biología Molecular del Cáncer e Investigación Traslacional en la Universidad de Salamanca. Estas etapas tienen fechas cerradas, por eso el currículum las presenta como capítulos terminados.
Experiencia científica
Durante el doctorado, trabajó como asistente de investigación para el CSIC. Desde 2019, ha trabajado como investigadora científica en el CNIO. Allí ha participado en proyectos que buscan nuevos tratamientos contra el cáncer de pulmón y de páncreas. La expresión desde 2019 conecta el inicio de ese trabajo con el presente.
Un paso hacia el espacio
En noviembre de 2022, la ESA la seleccionó como miembro de su reserva de astronautas. Fue la primera mujer española que alcanzó ese hito. La selección ocurrió en un momento concreto, pero su relación con la ESA ha continuado desde entonces.
Formación de astronauta
En octubre de 2024, comenzó el primero de tres bloques de formación para la reserva. Desde entonces, ha completado los tres bloques en el Centro Europeo de Astronautas de Colonia. En mayo de 2026, la ESA anunció que los miembros de la reserva habían terminado el programa. Hasta ahora, Sara ha combinado esa preparación con su trabajo en el laboratorio.
Dos tiempos en el mismo currículum
Las fechas como en 2012, en 2018 y en noviembre de 2022 cierran una etapa. Por eso aparecen formas como se licenció, se doctoró y la seleccionó. En cambio, desde 2019, desde entonces y hasta ahora mantienen un vínculo con el presente. Por eso aparecen ha trabajado, ha completado y ha combinado.
