Hola, equipo:
Ayer la profesora dijo que la bóveda se abrió en febrero de 2008 y que pertenece al Estado noruego. La bóveda está dentro de una montaña rocosa en la isla noruega de Spitsbergen.
No debemos llamarlo un banco de semillas corriente: funciona como copia de seguridad de otros bancos. Las cajas son enviadas por bancos de genes de muchos países. Cada caja contiene duplicados por si se pierde una colección en otro lugar.
La profesora añadió que el Gobierno noruego coordina el trabajo con NordGen y Crop Trust. También explicó que las semillas siguen siendo propiedad de las instituciones que las depositan.
Para el primer panel, podríamos dibujar la montaña y la entrada. La zona tiene permafrost, es decir, suelo que permanece congelado durante largos periodos. Sin embargo, no afirmemos que el frío natural hace todo el trabajo, porque la instalación también usa sistemas técnicos.
Julia comentó que podríamos exponer fotografías del exterior, pero no presentar cifras sin fecha. Es fundamental que revisemos las fuentes oficiales antes de imprimir.
Para el segundo panel, debemos explicar por qué existen los duplicados. La diversidad de los cultivos ayuda a mantener opciones para la agricultura futura. Los bancos de genes conservan las colecciones originales y Svalbard guarda copias de seguridad.
Marcos preguntó si las instituciones pierden sus semillas al enviarlas. Le respondí que no: las muestras siguen bajo su propiedad y solo ellas pueden pedir su devolución.
Si repartimos las tareas hoy, podremos terminar el material antes del jueves. Ojalá encontremos un mapa claro y una fotografía con permiso de uso.
