About this article
What you'll learn
Romantic Spanish verse, vos forms, vocabulary of honour, love and repentance, the Don Juan legend
This article contains the full text of Don Juan Tenorio (1844), José Zorrilla’s religious-fantastic drama in verse in two parts, about the Seville libertine whose bets on love and honour come back to him five years later. Level B2 suits readers who can follow quick exchanges and long speeches in Spanish; the verse makes it slower to read than the numbers suggest. You will learn the vocabulary of honour, love and repentance, the vos forms, and how Romantic Spanish verse works.
