I am Finn . Our new neighbor Ms Ortiz moved into the flat above us two weeks ago . Since then the building feels louder , friendlier , and a little different in small ways we notice each day . Two weeks ago a white van stopped outside our door on a Tuesday morning . Workers carried boxes up the stairs while Ms Ortiz checked labels in the hall . Last month the flat stood empty for three weeks after the old tenant left for work abroad . Two weeks ago my mom baked a loaf of bread and left it at Ms Ortiz's door with a welcome note . Yesterday Ms Ortiz returned the plate with a jar of honey from her hometown . Last weekend we spoke for ten minutes on the landing about bus routes and the bakery on Church Street . Two weeks ago Ms Ortiz adopted a small grey cat named Pico . Four days ago Pico escaped onto the stair rail , and my dad helped bring him back inside . Last night we heard Pico run across the floor at midnight , and my sister laughed into her pillow . Two weeks ago Ms Ortiz started a job at the language school near the park . Three months ago she lived in a coastal town , so two weeks ago every street name in our city looked new to her . Last Monday she asked my mom where to buy cheap notebooks for her students . Two weeks ago we invited Ms Ortiz for tea on Sunday afternoon . Last year our previous neighbor never joined family visits , so two weeks ago the invitation felt like a fresh habit . We drank mint tea and talked about gardens , music , and the tram line that stops near the school . Since she arrived two weeks ago , small exchanges changed our routine . Yesterday I carried a bag of rice upstairs when her hands were full . Last week she watered our plants during a hot afternoon while we visited my grandparents . Two weeks ago she was a stranger with boxes , and now she feels like part of the house . Neighbours sometimes arrive quietly and leave strong marks . Two weeks ago Ms Ortiz moved in , and already last weekend felt warmer because her kitchen light stayed on while she unpacked books and played soft music .
