Жив-був хлопчик на ім'я Петро. Він любив гуляти в саду біля дому. Одного дня він побачив під яблунею золоте яблуко. Петро ніколи не бачив такого яблука.
Він узяв яблуко й почув тихий голос. Маленька мишка сказала: «Будь ласка, не їж його. Це чарівне яблуко». Петро запитав: «Чому воно чарівне?» Мишка відповіла: «Воно допомагає почути голоси тварин».
Петро не з'їв яблука. Він поклав його в кошик і пішов із мишкою до старої лавки в саду. Там плакав зайчик. У цій казці лисиця хотіла взяти моркву зайчика. Петро сказав: «Зупинись. Не бери чужу моркву». Лисиця послухала й пішла до лісу.
Зайчик сказав: «Дякую, Петре. Ти мені допоміг». Петро віддав яблуко мишці. Вона сказала: «Ти добрий друг». Петро повернувся додому й усміхнувся.
