Кошеня Мурчик народилося у великому місті. Воно знало тільки квартиру, диван та свою миску з молоком. Але влітку господарі вирішили поїхати до бабусі в село і взяли Мурчика з собою.

Коли Мурчик вперше вийшов на подвір'я, він дуже здивувався. Трава була м'яка і зелена, а повітря пахло квітами та молоком. Мурчик обережно зробив перший крок. Раптом щось велике і біле пробігло повз нього. Це був гусак.

— Га-га-га! — крикнув гусак.

Мурчик злякався і швидко заліз на паркан. Він ще ніколи не бачив таких великих птахів. З паркану він побачив сад. Там було багато дерев і кущів. Мурчик вирішив дослідити цей новий світ.

Він зустрів великого пса на ім'я Рекс. Рекс лежав біля своєї буди і спав. Мурчик підійшов ближче. Він хотів понюхати носа собаки. Але Рекс раптом відкрив одне око. Кошеня підскочило і побігло до саду.

У саду Мурчик побачив метелика. Метелик був яскраво-червоний. Кошеня почало за ним полювати. Воно стрибало через квіти, бігало навколо дерев. Але метелик був дуже швидкий. Нарешті він злетів високо на яблуню.

Мурчик втомився. Він побачив миску з парним молоком біля порога хати. Бабуся вже чекала на нього.
— Бідне моє кошеня, ти, мабуть, дуже зголоднів, — сказала вона і погладила Мурчика.

Після обіду Мурчик знайшов тепле місце на сонці біля вікна. Він заплющив очі і почав муркотіти. Село йому дуже сподобалося. Тут було стільки цікавого! Він знав, що завтра на нього чекають нові пригоди. Можливо, він навіть спробує потоваришувати з Рексом.
