Salgo del aeropuerto de Barajas con dos maletas. Estoy cansado después de un vuelo largo. Necesito llegar a mi hotel en el centro de Madrid.
Veo muchos coches afuera. Hay autobuses, coches particulares y taxis. Los taxis son amarillos y negros. Tienen una luz verde encendida cuando están libres.
Un taxista me ve y se acerca. Abre el maletero y me ayuda con las maletas. Pregunta: ¿Adónde va, señor? Le digo el nombre de mi hotel. Conozco la dirección. Subimos al coche.
Dentro del taxi
El interior está limpio. Huele a ambientador suave. Hay un taxímetro digital en el salpicadero. Muestra la tarifa actual. También hay una pantalla pequeña con publicidad.
El conductor es un señor mayor con gafas. Habla poco pero conduce bien. Sabe los atajos. Evita el tráfico pesado en la autopista. Por las calles pequeñas es más rápido.
Miro por la ventana. Veo edificios, tiendas, parques. Madrid es bonito. El conductor me señala algunos monumentos importantes. Ahí está el estadio Santiago Bernabéu. Ese edificio es el Museo del Prado.
La conversación
A mitad de camino, el taxista me pregunta de dónde soy. Le explico que soy turista. Es mi primera vez en España. Estoy emocionado de conocer Madrid.
Me recomienda algunos restaurantes. Pruebe la paella en el restaurante La Barraca. Es muy bueno. También los churros con chocolate en San Ginés. Son famosos.
Le pregunto sobre la propina. ¿Debo dar propina? Responde: Es opcional. Si el servicio es bueno, puede redondear hacia arriba. O dejar un euro o dos. Es su decisión.
Llegar al destino
El taxi se detiene frente al hotel. El taxímetro marca quince euros con cincuenta céntimos. El conductor apaga el taxímetro. Abre el maletero y saca mis maletas.
Le doy un billete de veinte euros. Él busca el cambio. Espero un momento. Me devuelve cuatro euros y cincuenta céntimos. Le digo: Quédese con cincuenta céntimos. Gracias.
Sonríe y agradece. Que tenga un buen día en Madrid. Disfrute su visita. Cierra el maletero y vuelve a su taxi. El coche amarillo desaparece entre el tráfico.
Mi opinión
El taxi amarillo fue una buena elección. Fue cómodo, rápido y seguro. El conductor fue amable y me dio buenos consejos. Aunque costó más que el autobús, valió la pena.
Durante mi viaje uso taxis varias veces. Para ir a restaurantes lejos, para volver al aeropuerto. Siempre elijo taxis amarillos oficiales. Son seguros y confiables.
Los taxis son parte de la experiencia de viajar. Conoces gente local, aprendes sobre la ciudad. Cada viaje en taxi es una pequeña aventura.
