About this article
What you'll learn
Present tense for the visit, past for the discovery, querer, ser and estar, and words such as fósil, hueso and pueblo.
Andrés wants to see the bone, so his grandmother takes him to Titania, the Dinópolis center in Riodeva, Teruel. In 2003 paleontologists from the Dinópolis Foundation found the first fossils in a field outside the village, and in 2006 they published Turiasaurus riodevensis as new to science. The name joins the river Turia with a word for lizard, and riodevensis means from Riodeva. It was a sauropod with a heavy body and legs like columns, living at the end of the Jurassic, between 150 and 145 million years ago. Scientists estimate 25 to 30 meters and the 2006 study spoke of about 40 tonnes: those figures are estimates. It is one of the largest dinosaurs found in Europe. The arm bone measures 1.79 meters. Titania, opened in 2012, shows a life-size reproduction of the front half of the skeleton.
