El Museo del Prado está en Madrid. Es uno de los museos más importantes del mundo. Tiene las mejores pinturas de España. Millones de personas lo visitan cada año.

Historia del Edificio

El edificio era un palacio real antes. El rey Carlos III lo mandó construir. Más tarde se convirtió en museo de arte. Abrió sus puertas en mil ochocientos diecinueve.

Las Colecciones

El Prado tiene ocho mil pinturas. Muestra solo unas mil quinientas. Las demás están en almacenes. Cambian las exposiciones regularmente.

Velázquez

Diego Velázquez era pintor del rey. Su obra más famosa es Las Meninas. Muestra a la familia real en el palacio. Es un cuadro lleno de misterio y belleza.

Goya

Francisco de Goya pintó muchas obras aquí. Los retratos de la familia real son impresionantes. También pintó escenas de la guerra. Sus pinturas negras son muy emotivas.

El Greco

El Greco era de Grecia pero trabajó en España. Sus figuras son alargadas y especiales. Usaba colores intensos y expresivos. Sus cuadros religiosos son famosos.

Hay pinturas de artistas italianos. También hay obras flamencas antiguas. El museo muestra la historia del arte europeo. Cada sala tiene una época diferente.
