Profesora María:
¡Buenos días, chicos! Hoy vamos a dibujar nuestros sueños. Sacad los lápices y abrid los cuadernos.
Sofía mira su estuche. Está vacío.
Sofía:
¡Ay, no! Mi lápiz está en casa.
Profesora María:
Tranquila, Sofía. En la caja hay lápices para todos.
Sofía abre la caja y encuentra un lápiz muy bonito, con estrellas doradas. Empieza a dibujar un gato.
Y entonces pasa algo increíble: el dibujo se mueve. El gato salta del papel y camina por la mesa.
Sofía:
¡Profesora! ¡Mi gato se mueve!
Profesora María:
Sofía, no exageres, cariño.
Pero todos los alumnos miran la mesa y gritan:
—¡El gato camina!
El gato mágico corre por la clase. Sube a una silla, bebe agua de un vaso y se esconde en una mochila.
Carlos:
¡Profe, el gato está en mi mochila!
Profesora María:
¡Tranquilos! Vamos a pensar. Sofía, ¿qué dibujas?
Sofía:
Un gato feliz, porque quiero tener un gato en casa. Pero mi madre dice que soy muy pequeña.
La profesora sonríe.
Profesora María:
Entonces dibuja otra cosa, Sofía: una puerta mágica. El gato vuelve a su casa de papel.
Sofía dibuja una puerta. El gato entra poco a poco y mueve la cola. Después el dibujo está quieto otra vez.
Toda la clase aplaude.
Profesora María:
Muy bien, Sofía. Los sueños son bonitos, pero un animal también necesita cuidados.
Sofía sonríe:
—Sí, profe. Primero cuido mi dibujo. Y después, ¡un gato de verdad!
¿Y tú? ¿Qué dibujas en la clase de arte? ¿Tienes un animal en casa? ¿Qué animal quieres dibujar hoy?

Encontrar gives encuentra, volver gives vuelve, querer gives quiero. The stressed vowel changes: o becomes ue, e becomes ie.
Without this you will not recognise verbs you already know.
The little word se
se esconde en una mochila
hides in a backpack
Se shows the subject acts on itself: el gato se esconde, el dibujo se mueve.
Without se the verb needs an object: mueve la cola (it moves its tail).
