Last Friday I took the train to visit my cousin Nora who lives in a village two hours from the city . She met me at the station with her dog and we walked slowly up the hill because my bag felt heavy after the journey . Nora does not live alone anymore because her partner moved in last spring . Do they both work from home now ? They do work from home on most days , but her partner does travel to clients on Thursdays . We ate soup at the kitchen table and talked about family news . I do not see Nora often , yet we do message every few weeks when life allows . Does our aunt still garden every morning ? Nora says she does garden before breakfast when weather stays dry . On Saturday we walked through fields behind the house until lunch . Nora does not rush on walks because she likes birds and quiet paths . Do I enjoy country air after city noise ? I do enjoy it , although I do not think I could live far from trams and late cafes . Her neighbour stopped us and asked if we wanted apples from a tree near the fence . Nora said we did want a few , but we did not need a full bag . The neighbour smiled and said help yourself on Sunday before you leave . In the afternoon Nora taught me a card game I did not know as a child . Does the game need four players ? It does need four , so we waited until evening when friends arrived for tea and cake . I slept in the guest room where windows face east and light arrives early . Do country mornings feel colder than city mornings ? They do feel colder to me , but Nora does not complain because she wakes with coffee and a warm scarf . Before my train on Sunday , we packed bread and cheese for the trip home . Nora asked if I would return in December for the market on the square . I said I would try , because visits like this do restore energy even when travel feels tiring . Questions with do and does appeared throughout the weekend , yet the visit mattered more because cousins do stay connected when cities pull people apart .
