My cousin Lily turns fourteen on Saturday the twelfth of June , and my aunt asked me to help plan a small surprise at home . We started preparations on Monday because decorations take time , and I like organising events when friends can join the fun . On Tuesday evening I bought balloons and candles at the shop on Market Street , and I hid them in the garage because Lily must not see them before the party . The party ended at eight , and we cleaned plates together because Aunt Rosa looked tired after a long day . I do not mind washing cups when celebrations feel happy , and Lily told me later that this birthday stayed in her memory for many months .
