Todos los domingos por la mañana, acompaño a mis padres al mercado de agricultores que se instala en la plaza mayor de nuestro pueblo. Es un lugar lleno de vida, colores y olores deliciosos. Desde muy temprano, los agricultores de los alrededores llegan con sus camiones llenos de frutas y verduras frescas que han recogido de sus huertos. Me gusta mucho ver cómo montan sus puestos con cajas de madera.

Lo primero que hacemos es visitar el puesto de la señora María. Ella vende las mejores manzanas y peras de la zona. Siempre nos recibe con una gran sonrisa y me regala una pieza de fruta para que la pruebe mientras mis padres compran. Las manzanas de María son rojas y muy dulces. Ella nos explica que no usa productos químicos y que sus frutas crecen de forma natural bajo el sol.

Después vamos al puesto de las verduras. Allí hay montañas de tomates rojos, lechugas verdes muy grandes y zanahorias con sus hojas largas. Aprendí que los tomates que compramos en el mercado huelen mucho mejor que los del supermercado. Mi mamá me deja elegir las zanahorias más bonitas para hacer una ensalada. Me gusta tocar la piel rugosa de las patatas y el tacto suave de los calabacines frescos.

En otra parte del mercado venden miel artesanal y quesos hechos a mano. El señor que vende la miel nos deja probar diferentes tipos con una cucharilla pequeña. Hay miel de flores de azahar, que es muy clarita, y miel de bosque, que es más oscura y tiene un sabor más fuerte. Compramos un tarro de cristal para nuestros desayunos. Me gusta saber que esta miel la han hecho las abejas de los campos cercanos.

El mercado también tiene puestos de flores y plantas. Los colores de los claveles, las rosas y los girasoles son espectaculares. El olor de las flores se mezcla con el aroma del pan recién hecho de la panadería de la esquina. Mi papá compra un ramo de flores para ponerlo en el centro de la mesa del comedor. Dice que las flores frescas alegran la casa y nos recuerdan la belleza de la naturaleza.

Una de las cosas que más me gusta del mercado es el ambiente social. Mis padres saludan a muchos vecinos y se quedan hablando un rato con ellos. Es un momento para compartir noticias y reír juntos. Los agricultores también hablan entre ellos y se ayudan si alguien necesita algo. Siento que el mercado es como el corazón del pueblo, donde todo el mundo se conoce y se apoya.

Aprendí que comprar en el mercado es bueno para el medio ambiente. Como los productos vienen de cerca, no hace falta usar muchos camiones que contaminan el aire. Además, en el mercado usamos bolsas de tela o cestas de mimbre en lugar de bolsas de plástico. Mis padres me explican que debemos cuidar nuestro planeta y que pequeños gestos como comprar productos locales ayudan mucho.

A veces hay músicos callejeros que tocan la guitarra o el acordeón en medio de la plaza.
