El viaje en el coche es un poco largo, pero no me importa. Por la ventana, puedo ver muchos árboles verdes y montañas altas. El cielo está azul y el sol brilla mucho. Mi papá conduce el coche y mi mamá escucha música en la radio. Yo estoy sentado atrás, pensando en cómo será subir a un caballo tan grande.
Cuando llegamos a la granja, el aire huele diferente. Huele a tierra mojada, a hierba fresca y un poco a animales. Mi tío Luis nos espera en la puerta con una sonrisa muy grande. Él lleva un sombrero de paja y unas botas marrones que parecen muy cómodas. Nos da un abrazo fuerte a todos y nos invita a pasar.
Primero, vamos a ver a las gallinas y a los patos. Hay muchas gallinas de color blanco y marrón que comen granos del suelo. Los patos están nadando felices en un pequeño lago que hay cerca de la casa. Yo les tiro un poco de pan y ellos vienen rápidamente a comerlo. Me hace mucha gracia cómo mueven la cola cuando nadan.
Después de ver a los patos, caminamos hacia el establo. El establo es una casa grande de madera donde duermen los caballos. El corazón me late muy rápido porque sé que Relámpago está allí. Cuando entramos, veo a varios caballos, pero uno de ellos es especial. Es alto, de color negro brillante y tiene una mirada muy tranquila.
Ese es Relámpago. Mi tío Luis se acerca a él y le acaricia la cabeza con mucho cariño. Me dice que Relámpago es un caballo muy bueno y paciente. Me da una zanahoria y me enseña cómo poner la mano plana para que el caballo pueda comerla sin hacerme daño. Relámpago come la zanahoria lentamente y yo siento sus labios suaves en mi mano.
Ha llegado el momento de montar. Mi tío Luis pone una silla de montar de cuero sobre la espalda de Relámpago. Luego, me pone un casco negro en la cabeza para protegerme si me caigo. El casco me queda un poco grande, pero mi mamá lo ajusta para que no se mueva. Ahora estoy listo para subir.
Mi papá me coge en brazos y me ayuda a sentarme en la silla de montar. ¡Qué alto estoy! Desde aquí arriba, puedo ver toda la granja. Al principio, tengo un poco de miedo y agarro las riendas con mucha fuerza. Mi tío Luis me dice que me relaje y que respire profundamente. Me explica que el caballo siente si estoy nervioso.
Empezamos a caminar muy despacio. Mi tío Luis camina al lado de Relámpago, sujetando la cuerda. Cada paso del caballo me mueve de un lado a otro.
