Add useful phrases to SRS or mark them as already known.

Poner las cifras en perspectiva

new

put the figures in perspective

To compare a figure with a familiar reference so its real scale becomes clear.

It is useful in precise scientific argument.

no es un detalle menor

new

it is no minor detail

It stresses that an apparently secondary point has serious consequences.

It helps assign the right weight to an argument.

A cambio de esa limitación

new

in exchange for that limitation

It introduces a benefit obtained at the cost of a disadvantage.

It is useful for describing a tradeoff honestly.

ponerse a prueba

new

put to the test

To test a claim, system, or ability through observation or experiment.

It is central to the language of science.

Key words

Vocabulary that carries the school-day topic.

Vela

vela

sail

Here it is a lightweight reflective surface pushed by light.

A familiar nautical word takes on a technical space meaning.

Haz

haz

beam

A directed stream of light or other radiation.

The term is essential for understanding the laser system.

Latencia

latencia

latency, delay

The time between sending a signal and receiving a response or result.

It explains why a distant probe cannot be controlled in real time.

Sobrevuelo

sobrevuelo

flyby

A spacecraft's passage near an object without entering orbit.

It distinguishes brief data collection from a sustained presence.

Redundancia

redundancia

redundancy

The presence of multiple elements able to perform the same function if one fails.

It is a key concept in reliable engineering.

Inercia

inercia

inertia

The tendency of an object to keep moving unless a force changes that motion.

It explains the probe's motion after laser acceleration ends.

Grammar in context

Patterns from the text worth noticing after reading.

"De ahí que" with the subjunctive

hence the design includes adaptive optics

"De ahí que" introduces a consequence and takes the subjunctive "contemple".

It is a useful C2 structure for a rigorous causal link.

Impersonal "habría que"

Después habría que esperar otros 4,3 años

afterwards one would have to wait another 4.3 years

"Habría que" expresses a hypothetical necessity without naming a specific agent.

It states a consequence cautiously.

The concessive "por... que sea"

por diminuta que sea

however tiny it may be

The structure acknowledges an extreme smallness without cancelling the consequence.

It precisely answers an intuitive objection.

"Aunque" with the imperfect subjunctive

Aunque lograra llegar intacta

even if it managed to arrive intact

"Aunque lograra" presents a possible but unconfirmed condition; "dependería" gives its hypothetical consequence.

It separates possibility from a firm prediction.

The pair "no solo..., sino también..."

not only instruments, but also rules

The paired structure adds a second element as an important extension of the first.

It builds a complex argument with clear emphasis.
