España tiene una historia industrial interesante que se refleja en sus edificios antiguos. Durante los siglos XIX y XX, muchas fábricas y centros de producción se construyeron en las ciudades. Estos edificios eran grandes y funcionales, con espacios amplios para las máquinas y los trabajadores.

Las fábricas textiles eran muy comunes en Cataluña, especialmente en Barcelona. La industria del algodón y la lana era importante para la economía española. Los edificios tenían grandes ventanas para que entrara la luz natural, necesaria para el trabajo con telas. Muchas de estas fábricas tenían chimeneas altas que se veían desde lejos en el horizonte de la ciudad.

En Madrid y otras ciudades grandes, había mercados centrales y estaciones de tren que también eran ejemplos de arquitectura industrial.
