Your test phrase set:
Practise Spanish phrases, not just single words
You can know hundreds of Spanish words and still freeze in a café, because real conversation happens in whole phrases: "¿Me trae la cuenta, por favor?", "¿Cómo llego al centro?". Learning phrases as complete units gives you ready-made pieces of speech, with the right word order, prepositions and verb forms already in place.
This trainer shows you an English phrase and asks you to type the whole Spanish phrase from memory. Boxes above the answer field show every word of the phrase: a word turns blue as soon as you have typed it correctly and red if it is wrong, so you see where the phrase breaks down before you even press Check.
Why typing a phrase beats reading it
Reading a phrase list feels productive, but recognising a phrase is easy. Producing it is what you need when you speak. Typing the whole phrase forces you to recall every word in the right order, which is exactly the skill a conversation asks for.
- Word order sticks: you notice that Spanish says "una mesa para dos" and not "una para dos mesa".
- Small words stop disappearing: articles and prepositions like "a", "de" and "la" are where learners slip, and typing makes you produce them.
- Verb forms become automatic: "¿Puede llamar a un taxi?" teaches the polite form in a context you will reuse.
- Pronunciation comes with it: after each answer you hear the phrase spoken.
Punctuation and accents never cost you a phrase
The trainer compares meaning, not keyboard skills. Question marks, commas, ¿ and ¡, capital letters and accents are ignored when your answer is checked, so "donde esta la estacion" counts for "¿Dónde está la estación?". After every answer you still see the phrase written correctly and hear it, so the full spelling settles in along the way.
What happens when a phrase is wrong
A wrong answer shows which words differ from the correct phrase, plays it, and asks you to type it once more before you move on. That corrected attempt is what fixes the phrase in memory. In the full trainer a phrase has to be answered correctly three times in a row within a session before it counts as learned for that day, and then it follows the same spaced repetition schedule as words: 2 minutes, 1 day, 3.5 days, 11 days, 30 days and 120 days.

Frequently asked questions
Is this Spanish phrase trainer free?
Yes. The demo works without an account. A free account adds the whole phrase library, saves your progress and starts with 7 days of Pro; after that one phrase session a day stays free.
Do I have to type the Spanish punctuation and accents?
No. ¿, ¡, commas, capital letters and accents are ignored when your answer is checked, so you can practise on any keyboard. The correct spelling is always shown after you answer.
Should I learn phrases or single words first?
Both, together. Single words build your vocabulary; phrases show how those words work in a sentence. A few dozen everyday phrases let you handle common situations long before your vocabulary is large.
How many phrases should I practise a day?
Five to ten new phrases a day is a good pace. Phrases carry more than single words, so fewer of them per day still means steady progress, especially if you review them when they are due.
Can I practise phrases for a specific situation?
Yes. Pick a set from the phrase library, for example a restaurant, a hotel or a job interview, and train it in this same trainer.
