We chose a table near the window. A waiter came with water and small menus. Omar asked if the soup will be hot today. The waiter said the chef will serve tomato soup and chicken soup this week.
I looked at the pictures and felt hungry fast. Omar said he will try the salad with cheese. I said I will have soup and bread because the day felt cold outside. The waiter smiled and said the bread will arrive warm from the oven.
Omar asked about drinks. I said I will take tea with lemon. Omar said he will choose apple juice instead of coffee. The waiter wrote our order and said the food will come in ten minutes.
While we waited, Omar told me about his cousin's visit. He said his cousin will stay at his house next weekend. I said my brother will meet them at the bus stop on Friday. Omar said they will cook dinner together on Saturday night.
The waiter brought our drinks first. Omar said the juice will taste fresh. I said the tea will help me feel calm before our test tomorrow. Omar said our teacher will explain the answers on Thursday.
When the food arrived, the soup looked red and smooth. Omar said the salad will look colourful on his plate. I tasted the soup and said it will warm my hands. Omar said the cheese will make his salad rich and filling.
A woman at the next table spoke to the waiter. She said she will pay after dessert. Her friend said she will share the chocolate cake. The waiter said the kitchen will bring two spoons with the plate.
Omar asked if I will join the school concert. I said I will sing in the chorus if I will finish my homework early. Omar said he will play guitar with the band. I said the audience will clap loudly at the end.
We ate slowly and talked about summer jobs. Omar said he will work in a bookshop near the station. I said I will help at the community garden on Saturdays. Omar said the manager will train new staff in June.
After lunch Omar looked at the dessert list. He said he will order ice cream with fruit. I said I will skip dessert because I will walk home soon. The waiter said the ice cream will melt fast in the sun, so Omar will eat it quickly.
Before we left, Omar asked for the bill. The waiter said he will bring it in a moment. Omar said he will pay today because I paid last time. I said I will send him the money later on my phone.
We stood to go and Omar thanked the waiter.
