On Saturdays I go to the Hillside Youth Community Centre. It is a place for young people from eight to sixteen years old. There are many different activities and there is always something new to try.

I arrive at ten in the morning. The centre opens at nine, but I can''t get there earlier because I have piano practice first. At the entrance there is a notice board with the week''s programme. My friend Diana is already there. She can draw very well and she always comes for the art session.

In the arts and crafts room there are tables covered in materials. A group of children can paint on large canvases today. Diana can make a face look real in twenty minutes. I can draw simple shapes, but I can''t draw faces. Diana says she can teach me if I want. I say yes and we plan to start next Saturday.

At eleven there is a junior fitness class in the gym. There are eight of us in the group. Our coach Mr. Powell can show us all the exercises. We can do jumping jacks and we can do push-ups. At first I can only manage five push-ups. Now I can do ten. Mr. Powell says we can do the routine at home every day to get stronger.

After the class I eat my packed lunch in the garden. There are picnic tables and some tall trees. My friend Leon joins me. He can go swimming in the pool upstairs, but I need to leave by two o''clock today. We talk about the weekend.

Before I leave, Diana shows me her portrait from the art session. She can always make something beautiful. I tell her I can come back next Saturday for my drawing lesson. She smiles and says she can be there at ten. I look forward to it.

There is a lot I can do at the community centre. I can exercise, I can do art, and I can meet my friends. It is the best part of my Saturday.
