Rosa had one job before lunch . She needed Ben to see the new slides , and then she needed to join the client . Ben was in another city . The slides were only on the laptop in her kitchen . She put the file in a shared folder on Google Drive . Drive keeps a copy online , so Ben could open the same slides on his own computer . A Google Doc in that folder worked in a different way : two people can type in it at the same time . The slides did not need that . They needed his eyes . The client folder stayed shut until she turned on a VPN . A VPN puts the connection into a code . Someone on the same cafe wifi cannot easily read it . Slack keeps messages in channels , one for each topic , so this note was not buried in a private chat . The client had moved the meeting earlier . Same morning , only sooner . Rosa read the line out loud . They stopped fixing tiny words . Ben said the slides were clear enough . She joined the client from the same kitchen , shared the screen once more , and left the VPN on . When the call ended , the room was quiet . No attachment had gone out by email . Ben had already seen the slides , and so had the client .
