Nadia wants one thing from Dublin Airport , and it is not advice . She wants her red suitcase . The belt has gone around twice . Other people have taken their bags and walked away . Hers is not among them . She watches one more time . The belt is still moving , and she wants to be sure . The suitcase still does not come . She does not go outside to the taxis . The people who can start a search are in the hall behind her . A hotel desk cannot start a search that nobody filed . She follows the sign that says lost luggage . At the counter , a woman named Ruth has a form ready , as if missing bags are a normal part of her afternoon . " It was on this flight , " Nadia says . She puts her boarding pass down . " The suitcase is red , with a blue ribbon on the handle . My name is on the tag . It did not come out . " Ruth types while Nadia talks . The form is a property irregularity report . It asks for a phone number and for the address where Nadia is staying in the city . Nadia gives both , then asks Ruth to read them back . A wrong digit does not sound dramatic . It only means the call never finds her . " I cannot tell you when the bag will come , " Ruth says . " I can file this . When there is news , we use the number you gave me . If you call us , you will need the reference number on this page . " She prints a copy and circles the number at the top . Nadia photographs the circle , and she also writes the number in her notebook . A phone can run out of battery . Paper does not . The suitcase is still missing , but the problem now has a file , and the file has her address on it . Ruth points toward the exit . " Go to that address . Waiting by the belt will not move the bag . The next step is in the report , not on the floor . " Nadia leaves with her small backpack and the folded page . The backpack already holds her medicine and a clean shirt , so the night is possible . She wanted the red suitcase . What she carries out is a reference number , an address that was read back to her , and a person who filed the report before she left the airport . For tonight , that is the help .
