She starts her work by preparing delicious food. She mixes dry food and meat in big bowls. She gives the food to the hungry dogs first because they are very active. They wag their tails and eat their breakfast quickly.
After breakfast, Sarah walks the dogs in the nearby park. She usually takes three dogs at a time. The dogs love running on the green grass and playing with tennis balls. Sarah always keeps them safe on their leashes.
Meanwhile, other volunteers clean the cages and wash the floor. They put clean blankets and warm towels inside the beds. Sarah believes that a clean home makes the animals feel happy and healthy.
In the afternoon, Sarah spends time with the cats. The cats live in a large, warm room with many soft toys. They usually sleep in the sunny spots near the window. Sarah brushes their soft fur and plays with them.
A local doctor visits the shelter every Thursday afternoon. He checks the health of all the dogs and cats. He gives them medicine and writes reports. Sarah always helps the doctor during his visits.
Sometimes, kind families visit the shelter to find a new pet. Sarah talks to them and describes the character of each animal. She helps them choose the perfect dog or cat for their home.
Before she leaves, Sarah feeds the animals one more time. She fills their water bowls with clean water and locks the doors carefully. She always feels tired but very happy at the end of the day.
Sarah believes that her work at the pet shelter is very important. She loves helping animals and hopes that every pet finds a loving family soon.
