Today I take a train to visit my aunt in a small city by the sea. The station is busy in the morning. I buy a ticket at the window and wait on a bench near the platform. My bag sits on the floor next to my feet.
The train arrives with a loud bell. I find a seat by the window. A woman with a blue scarf sits across from me. She reads a book and drinks tea from a cup. The train moves slowly at first, then faster through green fields.
We pass a village with a white church on a hill. I see a horse in a field and an old barn with a red door. The sky is gray, but the view is still nice. I write a few words in my diary and look out the window.
At noon, a man walks through the aisle with a cart. He sells sandwiches and bottles of water. I buy a sandwich and an orange. The orange is juicy. I share a piece of my sandwich with the woman. She smiles and offers me a napkin from her bag.
The train stops at a station with a long name I cannot say well. A group of students gets on with big backpacks. One boy plays music from a phone, but the sound is quiet. The conductor checks tickets and moves on.
After two hours, we reach the coast. I see the sea through the window for the first time. The water looks dark blue under the clouds. My aunt waits on the platform with a sign. She hugs me and takes my bag.
We walk to her car in the parking lot. She tells me about a café near her house with good soup. I feel tired but happy. The train trip was long, but the diary page is full of small moments I want to remember.
