He is my father. He drives the car to the city center. She sits in the front seat with a long shopping list. I sit in the back with my little sister Anna.
Anna is six years old. She holds a small bag for fruit. She asks many questions on the road. They often make us laugh in the car.
We arrive at the market square around nine. Vendors call out prices from colorful stands. They sell fresh bread, cheese, and flowers. It smells wonderful in the morning air.
I walk with my mother to the vegetable stand. She picks tomatoes and green peppers for soup. I carry the paper bag when it gets heavy. We meet Dad near the cheese seller at the corner.
He buys bread from a baker we know well. He talks to the baker about the weather and the harvest. They smile and share a short joke before we move on. She pays for everything at the end of our visit.
You would like this market if you visit our town. You see friendly faces on every corner of the square. We go home before noon with full bags and tired feet.
They wave when we leave the square. We drive back along the quiet river road. I help unpack at the kitchen table while Anna draws. She draws pictures of the flowers we bought at the last stand.
This Saturday trip is one of my favorite family routines. We talk about the week ahead as we put food away. I feel lucky to share these mornings with the people I love.
