Lisa brings a camera to our party on Friday. She likes photos of friends and food. She will take pictures when you see the cake on the table. I think your eyes will go wide. Our friends will sing while we stand together near the window.
Your brother cannot come because his team has a match on Friday. That is sad, but we will save him cake in the fridge. A coach sends good wishes by text to my phone. I read the message and show it to my mom.
Before you come I clean my room and hide a gift in the closet. The wrap paper has stars on its surface. I tie a yellow ribbon like the one on your pencil case at school. The dog sleeps on a mat and stays quiet when guests arrive.
On Friday you knock on our blue door at four o'clock. Rain falls on your coat during the walk here. My mom opens the door and smiles. You see the table, your card, and a cake with five green candles.
We eat, talk, and laugh until the sky turns dark outside the window. You say the party is your best gift this year. I hug you at the door when your dad waits in a car nearby. You wave from the window as they drive away.
