Walk quietly between the shelves. Do not run. Step carefully around other readers. Speak in a low voice if you need to ask a friend something. Do not shout across the room. Use a whisper. Write your message on a piece of paper if you can.
Look for books on the shelves in alphabetical order by the author's last name. Start with the first letter. Move along the shelf until you find the right section. Use the index cards in the wooden boxes for help. Do not pull out more than two books at a time.
Sit at a table or in one of the armchairs. Keep your things near you. Do not spread your books across three seats. Leave room for other people. Place your bag under your chair. Do not block the aisle.
Handle books with clean, dry hands. Do not eat or drink near a book. Do not turn down the corners of pages. Use a bookmark. Find one at the front desk if you do not have your own. Do not write in a library book.
Return books to the right place when you finish reading them. Do not leave them on the table. Find the correct shelf and slide the book in carefully. Make sure the spine faces out. Do not force a book into a tight space.
Borrow books with your library card. Bring it every time. Show it to the librarian at the desk. Do not try to borrow without your card. Fill in the form when the librarian asks. Write your name clearly. Check the due date on the stamp.
Come back before the due date. Do not return books late without telling the librarian. If you need more time, visit the desk and ask for an extension. Explain politely. Return the book in the same condition you received it.
Turn off or silence your phone when you enter. Do not let it ring in the reading room. If you need to answer a call, go outside first. Respect everyone's right to read and study in peace.

Walk es un mandato común en espacios públicos. Combinar movimiento + manera es muy natural en imperativos.

Due date es cuando se espera algo — aquí, cuando el libro prestado debe devolverse.
