We arrive at nine o'clock. There is a reception desk at the entrance. A young man sits at the desk. He can check our membership cards. Our cards are in my father's bag. My father can show them quickly.
My father goes to the gym. His favourite exercise is cycling on the machines. He can cycle for forty minutes without stopping. He says it is good for his heart. His gym bag is always ready on Friday evenings.
My brother and I can use the swimming pool. The pool is on the ground floor. There are two pools. There is a large main pool and a smaller practice pool. The main pool has eight lanes. There are flags above the water.
My brother is eight. He can swim in the practice pool. He can do the breaststroke, but he cannot do the front crawl yet. His swimming teacher stands at the edge of the pool and watches. She can give my brother useful tips.
I can swim in the main pool. I can do three laps without stopping. My favourite stroke is the backstroke. I can see the ceiling of the pool when I swim on my back. There is a big clock on the ceiling. I can count my time.
After swimming, we can go to the cafe in the sports centre. There is a cafe on the first floor. There are hot drinks, sandwiches, and healthy snacks. My father can have his coffee there. My brother can have orange juice. I can have a bottle of water and a banana.
There is a noticeboard near the cafe. There are posters about sports classes and events. There is a new yoga class on Sunday mornings. There is also a junior football camp in the summer.
We can leave the sports centre at around eleven. My father drives us home. In the car, my brother says he wants to swim better. My father says he can practise more. I say I can teach him a few things. He is happy about that.
Saturday mornings at the sports centre are a good family routine. There is something for everyone there. We can all do our favourite activities. It is a healthy and enjoyable way to start the weekend.
