We traveled by coach when we were twelve. Our class left early on a Friday morning, and teachers counted students near the school gate. Tom sat by the window and waved at parents who stayed on the pavement. I packed sandwiches and a rain jacket because the forecast looked uncertain.
When we arrived, we walked along the pier and watched boats in the harbour. A guide explained how fishermen repaired nets and stored crates on the dock. Some classmates bought postcards while others photographed seagulls near the railings.
At lunch we ate on the beach behind a low wall. Sand stuck to our shoes, but nobody complained. Our teacher organized a short quiz about sea animals, and two teams competed with loud cheers. Tom answered a question about crabs and won a small sticker for his notebook.
In the afternoon we visited a small museum about local history. We read panels about sailors who mapped the coast and traders who imported spices through the old port. A volunteer showed us a model ship that children touched carefully with one finger.
Before we returned, we climbed a hill path above the town. The view included red roofs, church towers, and a wide strip of blue water. Tom photographed the scene while I talked with a classmate about homework we postponed until Sunday evening.
We boarded the coach at five o'clock and sang quietly during the journey home. Teachers checked attendance again when we stopped near school. Parents waited at the gate and asked simple questions about the day.
Tom and I agreed that the trip changed how we saw the town. We learned names of birds, tasted salt on the wind, and practiced patience during long walks. That memory returned clearly when we finished our coffee and planned another meeting next month.
