Tuesday brought a language class for adults who moved to our town recently. The teacher spoke slowly and wrote new words on the board. I sat at the back and sorted leaflets about local buses and library cards for students who asked questions after the lesson.
On Wednesday a youth club met in the small room upstairs. Teenagers played board games and planned a charity bake sale for the following month. One girl said she would bring cupcakes and another promised to design posters during the weekend.
Thursday felt quieter until a delivery driver brought chairs for the concert. I counted the boxes and stacked them against the wall in the storage cupboard. The centre manager checked the fire exit and told me we needed extra bins near the entrance before Friday.
The concert on Friday drew neighbours of all ages. A local band played for forty minutes while children danced near the front. I sold tea and biscuits at a table by the door and gave the money to the manager when the event ended at nine.
After the concert, volunteers washed cups and folded chairs while music still echoed in the hall. I locked the kitchen, turned off the lights, and walked home tired but satisfied. The week showed how many people use the centre for learning, friendship, and simple joy.
When I returned on Monday, the schedule board was full again. I smiled because busy weeks mean the community stays active and connected. I wrote a short report for the manager and kept a list of tasks for the month ahead.
