We walked around a lake on the first full day and took photos of boats near the pier. Lily fed ducks with bread crumbs while Dad read a guidebook on a bench. Mom photographed red trees along the path and sent one picture to her friend before lunch.
On Wednesday we climbed a low hill with a view over the valley. The wind felt strong at the top, but the sky cleared and we saw water shining below us. I sat on a rock and wrote three lines in my travel diary while Lily collected small stones in her pocket.
One afternoon we visited a village market and bought cheese, honey, and a wooden spoon from a local maker. The seller told us about his workshop behind the square. We tasted honey on plain crackers and chose a jar for our neighbour who watered our plants while we were away.
We also drove to a waterfall on a quiet road through woodland. The path was wet, so we walked carefully and held the rail near the steep steps. Lily said the sound of the water felt louder than she expected from photos she saw online.
On our last night we ate in a pub near the guesthouse and talked about our favourite moments from the week. Mom loved the market. Dad loved the hill walk. Lily loved the ducks. I loved the evening when we sat by the lake and watched the sun go down behind the hills.
Yesterday, looking at the photos again, we laughed at Lily's windy hair on the hill and at Dad's serious face when he read the map upside down. The holiday felt close again, as if we could return next season with the same bags and the same quiet guesthouse room.
Those pictures remind us that simple trips can leave strong memories. We drove, we walked, we ate local food, and we came home with tired legs and full hearts. I saved the folder on my phone and showed two images to a classmate this morning.
