Leo said the weather will turn cold that night, so he will turn on heating before kickoff. He warned that the neighbour below will complain if we will shout too loudly after midnight. We promised we will celebrate goals with claps instead of jumping on the floor.
On Saturday morning the sports channel published team news. The reporter said the star striker will miss the match because of a minor knee injury. Tomas said the substitute will play wider on the left and the game will feel more open than last season's dull draw.
At noon Sara checked the forecast and said rain will stop before evening, so travel will stay easy for everyone. I said traffic will grow near the stadium even though we will watch from Leo's sofa, because fans will drive to the ground from nearby towns.
I arrived at seven twenty with bags of food and a scarf in club colours. Leo said the pre-match show will begin at seven forty-five with interviews from the tunnel. Sara placed pies on a tray and said the smell will attract everyone to the kitchen before the first whistle.
During the first half the teams moved quickly and the commentator said the pace will drop if the rain will return. Tomas arrived at half time and said his bus will delay less than he feared. Leo said the second half will bring more chances because the coach will change formation at sixty minutes.
When the winning goal came in the eighty-second minute, we shouted softly and hugged anyway. Leo said the highlight clip will appear online within minutes and Sara said she will send photos to her brother abroad. I said the night will feel long and happy even if the streets will stay quiet after we will leave.
Before I walked home, Leo said he will host the next match day in two weeks if the schedule will confirm the time. I said I will bring different snacks and we will arrive earlier to help him prepare. The derby will end late, but our friendship will feel stronger after a shared evening of predictions that mostly came true.
