In the kitchen Tom listed simple habits. We should wash dishes on the same day we use them. We must not leave food open on the counter overnight. We have to label food in the fridge with our names and dates.
Tom explained the bathroom schedule because we share one shower. He said I should keep my toiletries in a box under the sink. We must clean the mirror and sink after morning use. Tenants have to replace empty toilet paper rolls when they notice them.
About noise, Tom wrote clear limits. We should use headphones after nine in the evening. We must not play loud music during exam weeks. He said we have to tell each other if we plan a small party with friends.
The email included rules for bills and rent. We must pay our share by the fifth day of each month. Tom said we should save receipts for shared purchases like soap and bin bags. We have to message the landlord if the heating stops working.
Tom also mentioned the balcony plants. He said we should water them twice a week in summer. We must not throw cigarette ends off the balcony. Flatmates have to sweep leaves when they pile up near the door.
At the end Tom added friendly advice. He said we should talk openly if something bothers us. We must not ignore small problems until they grow big. Good roommates should respect shared space and private time.
I replied that I will follow the rules because they feel fair. Tom said we should review them again after the first month. Living together works when everyone must do their part. I think we have to communicate clearly from the start.
