I am Elena. On Friday my colleagues and I wanted dinner after a long week at the design studio. We stood outside two restaurants on Maple Lane and read the menus in the window.

The first place looked more modern than the second one. Its lights were softer, and the tables seemed more spacious than the crowded room next door. However, the prices on the first menu were higher than the prices across the street.

Our manager Sara said the second restaurant offered simpler dishes than the first, but the reviews online were more positive than we expected. The pasta section looked more interesting than the grill list, and the soup options were more varied than yesterday's cafeteria food.

We compared portion photos on our phones. Sara thought the salad bowls in the second restaurant were larger than the bowls in the first photos. I said the dessert page looked more tempting than the main courses because the chocolate cake seemed richer than any cake we saw earlier.

Tom, from the printing team, prefers quieter spaces than loud bars. He said the second restaurant felt calmer than the first when we peeked through the door. The music inside was lower than the music in the modern place, and the waiter smiled more warmly than the host at the first entrance.

We checked opening times. The first kitchen closed later than the second kitchen, but none of us wanted a meal that was more expensive and less relaxing after a tiring day. Sara said good conversation is more valuable than fancy decoration on a Friday night.

In the end we entered the second restaurant. The bread was warmer than we imagined, and the house wine was smoother than the cheap bottle we shared last month. My risotto was creamier than Tom's grilled fish, yet his plate looked lighter than mine.

During dessert we talked about next week's project. Sara said this week felt longer than the week before the holiday. Tom said the new client is more demanding than the old one, but the team is more prepared than last semester.

When we paid the bill, the total was lower than we feared. Sara laughed and said the evening was more fun than staying alone with laptops at home. I agreed, and I thought the second menu was a better choice than the shiny window display across the street.

Choosing a restaurant is easier when friends compare more than prices. That night the food, the noise level, and the mood were all more important than the modern lights we admired for five minutes outside.
