Barcelona looks warmer than Prague in April, but hotel rooms near the beach are more expensive than rooms in the old town across the river. Zoe says sunshine is more important than snow, yet my budget this year is tighter than last year.
We made a list on Tuesday evening. Train tickets to Prague are cheaper than flights to Spain, and the hostel Zoe found is more central than the apartment I liked online. I think a central location is more useful than a large kitchen we will not use much.
Our colleague Miguel joined the video call. He visited both cities last year. He said Prague cafes are cozier than the busy terraces in Barcelona, but Barcelona markets are more colourful than the stalls he saw near the river. He warned that weekend crowds in Spain are larger than weekday groups in Czech squares.
Zoe is going to call the hostel tomorrow. I will check weather apps because rain is more likely than snow in both places, according to the forecast. We should pack lighter coats than we took to Berlin, Miguel said, but warmer scarves than we used in Lisbon.
Must we decide by Friday? Zoe thinks we must, because the cheaper train seats will disappear. I should compare total costs more carefully than I did yesterday. Food in Barcelona might be more expensive than meals in Prague, even when street snacks look cheaper at first glance.
Will we regret choosing the colder city? Zoe believes we will enjoy Prague more than Barcelona if we prefer museums to beaches. I will feel happier in Barcelona if the sea is closer than any gallery walk. We cannot know every detail, but we must be honest about what feels more relaxing after work stress.
On Wednesday we are going to meet after class with our spreadsheets open. Zoe is going to highlight hotels that are quieter than party hostels. I will mark routes that are shorter than the long bus rides Miguel described.
Before we pay, we should ask one more friend who travels often. Good advice is more valuable than fast clicks on discount sites. If Prague is truly cheaper and calmer than Barcelona this season, we will book the train and save the sunny coast for a summer when our schedules are freer than they are now.
Planning together is slower than booking alone, yet it feels wiser than rushing into the prettier photos online. The better trip is not always the warmer city; sometimes it is the choice that leaves us more rested when we return home.
