At the supermarket Mom picked some apples and some pears from the fruit section. Leo put some grapes in a small bag. I asked if we needed any oranges, but Mom said we already had some at home.
We walked to the bread aisle. Mom chose some soft rolls and some brown bread. Leo wanted some cheese for the sandwiches. I said we should buy some butter too because we did not have any left in the fridge.
Near the drinks Leo asked if there was any juice on sale. Mom found some apple juice and some water bottles. I said we did not need much soda because soda has too much sugar. Leo agreed and put the soda back.
At the checkout Mom asked if we had any discount cards. Dad sent a message and said he would bring some ice from the shop near his office. I said we would need some ice for the juice because the day would feel hot.
Back home we spread some food on the kitchen table. Mom cut some tomatoes and some cucumber for the sandwiches. Leo asked if there was any ham in the fridge. I opened the door and said we had some ham and some chicken slices.
Mom said we had many ideas but not much time before bed. We made some lists on paper. Leo wrote some names of games we could play on the grass. I wrote some songs we could sing if some friends came.
On Saturday morning Dad asked if we had any blankets for the hill. Leo said we had some old blankets in the cupboard. Mom packed some napkins and some plastic forks. I packed some cups because we did not have many reusable cups clean.
Before we left, our neighbour Sara knocked on the door. She asked if we had any extra sandwiches. Mom said we made some extra rolls and she could take some home after the picnic. Sara smiled and said she would bring some lemonade to share.
At the park we found some shade under a big tree. Leo spread some food on a cloth. Dad poured some juice into the cups. Mom said there was not much wind, so the napkins stayed on the table.
Some children from school arrived and asked if they could sit with us. We said yes and offered some fruit. One boy asked if we had any cookies. Leo said we had some cookies in a tin and he would share some with everyone.
We played some games and laughed for many minutes. Mom said we did not spend much money but we had much fun. Dad said some simple plans can feel better than any expensive trip.
In the afternoon clouds came, but we still had some sunshine.
